Several months ago, Jeanne Aboud contacted me by email in a sort of miraculous turn of the Universe. She wondered if we would do printing for international clients, as she was from the Caribbean. I wrote back immediately, very curious, to say, “Where in the Caribbean? My Mom was from Trinidad.” Well, how amazing to find that Jeanne, too, is from Trinidad Tobago. But more astounding yet, she told me she had read an article about my shop in Departures Magazine over ten years ago and saved it all this time. The fact that she could lay her hands on it, now that her daughter was about to be engaged, to one like me who is “organizationally challenged,” seemed nothing short of a deity-like feat. These coincidences and miraculous talents sent us off together on a wonderful adventure in quantum physics and design assisted by inspiration from my DNA…or something! I can’t explain it better than the following note from Jeanne does:
“Your invitations were spectacular and made a very big hit. Guests called when they were received just to say how beautiful they were. Thank you, thank you again for what you put into making them. I knew from the begining when we spoke and you said your mother was from Trinidad that they were going to be very special not only to me but to you.
The evening of the party my very tropical garden looked out of this world with fresh red poinsettias and candles, candles everywhere and our guests arrived in the rain, Yes, Zida, the rain. God decided that evening he was going to tease us so it drizzled and stopped and drizzled and stopped for the evening. Our family and friends had a ball, nothing stopped the celebration and people danced under umbrellas or in the rain. Thanks to the champagne.”
