Abalone Watch Cover

Abalone Watch Cover

The latest edition of Real Estate Magazine is on news stands, in the Realty offices and around the county in hundreds of locations now. We’re excited to present Rod Jones’s article about the citizen’s group Abalone Watch, which patrols the coast for poachers and gives information to divers, protecting the prized mollusk. It’s inspiring that one concerned person can make a decision like this that can make such an impact on our coastal communities. We added extra color pages this month, too. Go get one, or you can read the article and see ads on our website here. Thank you for appreciating Real Estate Magazine.

Next month we will explore Farm to Table consciousness and Eat Mendocino locavores with Sarah Bodnar.

50 Year Anniversary of Gallery Books

50 Year Anniversary of Gallery Books

This month’s REM cover story is about the fiftieth anniversary of Gallery Books, a thriving independent book store in the tiny village of Mendocino, a refute to the big box book sellers who seem unconscious about putting so many small shops out of business. It’s a heart warming story of resiliency and stamina, passion and dedication. We love our local book store! Copies are all over the county so be sure to pick one up on your way past the post offices, Realty offices, grocery stores and many retail spots all over the county. OH? You’re not planning a trip to Mendocino County right now? OK, they you can read all about it on our website here.

My fabulous homeopath, Shelly Garrison, got new cards recently. I designed them with a letterpress-y vibe but printed them digitally. I love how they came out so much that i wanted to show them to you here.

The mirror-like finish and modern sans-serif font give a liveliness to otherwise very classical typography.and layout.

Nida Chaudhry is a lawyer from Vancouver BC. I designed a new logo for her newly opened practice, Infinite Law, and printed them digitally, again with that favorite of mine, black and white and beautiful all over. The big “I” is timeless, modern and striking on the glossy, substantial paper.

And finally, I have made myself some cards for my monthly publication, Real Estate Magazine. Sometimes you just want to leave well-enough alone and I early on chose to leave the logo designed by Chuck Hathaway may moons ago for his magazine as it has been for 25 years. I gave it a little update on the business cards with horizontal striping and a fancy orangey-red back.

These black-and-white themed digital cards show that there is an infinity of possibilities in design and printing to fit your style and budget. Though letterpress will always trump everything in terms of beauty and classiness, it’s not the only available solution. Call Studio Z Mendocino to find a range of savvy, practical options for all your branding questions.

Our latest issue of Real Estate Magazine brings not just all the real estate listings you want to know about on our gorgeous Mendocino coast, but, as usual, an engaging, lively editorial about one aspect that makes it fabulous to live here. Author of the article, Mike Evans, now lives in Japan and is president of the Miasa Sister City Association. His offering describes the Miasa-Omachi Sister City to Mendocino, its history and the upcoming Art Exchange Shows that will bring seven Japanese artists here for a spectacular group exhibition at the Mendocino Art Center and the Edgewater Gallery in Fort Bragg later on. There is also a short article about the Mendocino Film Festival, which is coming right up June 1st to 3rd, and I can hardly wait. It’s such a treat to get to view movies that are not in the mainstream while schmoozing around with local and touristic movie lovers. And this year they have added two new venues: Fort Bragg’s Coast Theater and The Arena Theater in Point Arena — very, very excellent news.

We are pleased to be able to bringĀ  you this type of information each month. You can pick up copies all over the county, in real estate offices, at post offices and at many grocery stores, galleries, inns and other lodging places. You can, as well, read it online here. Also, if you are interested in placing an ad in this popular, widely read tabloid, please call us at 964 1318.

The February issue of Real Estate Magazine is out on the racks now. This month’s cover story is about Homeopathy on the Mendocino coast, and particularly about Dr. Jose Issac, an east Indian MD/Homeopath who is teaching Classic Homeopathy to eight Mendocino coast women. If you have ever wondered about the seemingly esoteric practice of this medical art, here is a good place to start. If you are not nearby to pick up a copy, you can find it online at www.realestatemendocino.com.

There is no place like Caspar in all the world. I am so proud to have published this article written by my great friend Judy Tarbell as the cover story in this months issue of the magazine. If the world were run by Casparados there would be no war, no poverty, no pollution — only love and fun and supportive friends working hard to make everyone’s life happy and good. It’s as close to Utopia as anything I have seen. It’s the community of my heart and I am so proud to be an honorary Casparado. Go read it online if you can’t find a copy — here.
